New Local Newspaper to launch next year
According to the English-language newspapers, daily new Khmer newspaper, named Khmer Nation News, will be launched on January 12 with eight pages, covering the human rights, corruption, land grabbing, and general injustices in Cambodia. The newspaper had already been granted permission from the Ministry of Information.
“I am prepared already to lose around $3,000 to $4,000 per month,” said Sun Chanthy, the publication’s publisher, quoted by the Cambodia Daily.
He added that the Khmer Nation News will be an independent newspaper.
Khieu Kanharith, the minister of information, said that he welcomed the new publication, adding that only time will tell if the newspaper will be successful and truly independent, the Cambodia Daily reported.
